A detail review on the soil and water conservation expert systems is presented. The problems in the research are also discussed. Based on the analysis of the relations of ES and GIS ,DSS and other techniques, the direction of future development of soil and water conservation expert systems have been proposed, which taking ES as the core and supported by the technique system constituted by GIS,DSS, Database and so on.
