On the basis of the research works for many years the main character istics and laws of soil and water conservation by vegetation are comprehensively expounded, and its systematic summation is made. It provides scien tific basis for objective analyzing and evaluating the roles and effects of vege tation, right working out and implementing the policies of soil and water conser vation.
